Are Aon Exchange Solutions catching on with employers?

More than 1.4 million employees, retirees, and their eligible dependents from more than 150 companies currently choose individual and employer-sponsored health benefits through Aon’s suite of private health exchanges. This is up from more than 100 companies and over 1 million employees, retirees, and their eligible dependents in 2014. As a leader in health solutions, Aon also administers traditional, self-insured health benefits for more than 9.5 million employees and retirees.

How dependent is the Aon Active Health Exchange on health care reform laws?

Although the Aon Active Health Exchange concept is similar to a health insurance exchange from the PPACA, it does not depend on any specific health care reform laws to function exactly as designed.

How is the Aon Active Health Exchange different than state exchanges?

State exchanges exclusively offer individually underwritten policies. The coverage is not offered as part of a group plan and will also not be available to large employers. The Aon Active Health Exchange offers employer-sponsored group coverage for large companies. Also, the risk pools of the Aon Active Health Exchange are more attractive for insurance carriers, so rates can be lower than the policies offered on state exchanges.

How do I know if the Aon Active Health Exchange is right for my company?

Aon has health solutions for all sizes and needs, across geographies and industries. When considering the Aon Active Health Exchange, companies should be prepared to:

  • Break away from the status quo of upward trending health costs
  • Monetize their health care commitment as a defined contribution
  • Spend less time on managing your plan, its design and carrier, and spend more time on improving employee health or other core business needs
  • Make health benefits a part of total rewards

How do I know carriers are going to stick with the Aon Active Health Exchange?

Aon has long-established, strong relationships with leading carriers nationwide. We worked directly with these carriers to design and develop the Aon Active Health Exchange so that it benefits everyone, including carriers. As key partners in the exchange, the carriers take on added risk by insuring the policies and must offer competitive rates, but they also gain access to more participants at a much lower cost per sale. We’re also selectively expanding to more carriers who are ready to jump aboard. The exchange is truly a win-win-win for the employer, employee, and carrier. In other words, it’s truly sustainable.

How are the Aon Retiree Health Exchange Benefits Advisors compensated?

Our Benefits Advisors are salaried employees. They do not make commissions based on the plans retirees chose, which allows them to be unbiased when providing retirees recommendations on finding the right plan that fits their needs.

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) selected Aon as a trusted partner because of its strong track record of serving people with Medicare, and its ability to meet all of NCOA’s Standards of Excellence.
